CBT for Healthier Habits: Lasting Change for You and Your Patients (CS00)

Description
Friday, March 28th, 2025 | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM | Live Online | 7 CEs

Course Description:
Join best-selling author and psychiatrist David Burns, M.D., and Jill Levitt, Ph.D., Director of Training at the Feeling Good Institute, for a fun day of learning, practice, and community building, where you’ll discover innovative CBT techniques designed to help both your patients (and yourself) build healthier habits and overcome challenges like tech addiction, overeating, procrastination, and poor exercise habits. Through didactic teaching, live demos, and opportunities to practice new therapy techniques in small breakout groups with expert feedback—such as The Triple Paradox Technique, The Problem-Solution List, The Five-Minute Rule, and The Anti-Procrastination Sheet (among many others)—you’ll walk away with new, actionable skills to help your patients—and yourself.

Learning Objectives:
Describe the role of cognitive distortions in triggering habits and addictions
List two positive distortions that trigger addictions
Explain the purpose of the Five-Minute Rule
Explain the purpose of the Devil’s Advocate Technique to address tempting thoughts
Explain the importance of stimulus control
Describe the anti-procrastination sheet
Name one method to increase accountability

Note: We will not focus on life-threatening addictions such as opiate addiction and the intravenous use of amphetamines, which require inpatient treatment—even though many of the techniques we teach can be part of successful treatment for these addictions.
